Question:- Is there a difference between working with tarot and oracle?
The structure and story line of tarot is pretty similiar in the sense that the decks of tarot particularly the Rider Waite tarot and renditions of the same deck will correlate with the base structure & story to use as a guideline. Each card has its own story to tell within its depths though thus opening the doorways to further knowledge and exploration through the deck itself. It has been said if you learn to work with the Rider
Waite based tarot decks then you would be able to read and work with any other tarot deck as it does not
provide you with the extra explorations between giving the message to one another and to put it into practice.
The tarot has 78 cards to work with. 22 of them are Major Arcana which relate to events in the present and to life changing events. 56 cards are considered Minor Arcana which again apply to the heads of the suits, King, Queen, Knight, Page, etc. The tarot's story begins with the Fool card and progresses through that particular deck, throughout its card's journey.
The Oracle Cards are loosely structured independntly of each deck and will include things like angels, faeries, goddesses, mermaids, etc because it gives them more of a berth to explore the imagery & symbolisms that are portrayed throughout the spreads and the position of the cards themselves. The number of cards may range from 34- 36 per deck, some may include the tarot theme but some may not and have their own creative themes & motifs around the cards themselves. When you are working with oracle; you are still working with the first thoughts & your own intuition but you are also working with the energy vibrations through the window of the card itself.
They are different but what works is what calls out to you the strongest. If you make a beeline to one in a shop but are not drawn to any others within that enviroment, that is the one to work with you for this stage in your lifetime now.
